Philipine flagLourdes Mikesell passed away on September 18th, 2016 Age 83. Beloved wife of the late Ricardo. Loving mother of Ernie (Mayette), Mely (Edil), Susan (Scott), Bher (Liza), Adele, Rhoda, Lita (Gary) and Rhino (Recie). Devoted Grandmother of George (Hannah), Mike (Quyen), Melissa, Josie (Geovanni), Jack (Raquel), Joven, Christian (Andrea), Jillian, Mark, Alisha and Brian. Great Grandmother of Cameron, Isaac, Lily, Kalliyan, Joey, Nani, Sebi, Karla, Kristen, Jake, Rogelio, Tyler and Ariana. Lourdes was born on May 22nd, 1933 in Manila Philippines, a survivor of WW II as a child. During the war, she hid inside the cave called “Pugad Lawin-Eagles Nest” together with other filipinos. She was married to Ricardo G. Mikesell on January 21, 1949, with 8 children. Ricardo went to the US in 1975 and later brought 3 children. Mom stayed in the Philippines with 4 children and 3 grandchildren. Later on, the rest of the family reunited in 1984. She was the president of The Women’s Club in the Philippines for 6 years. She was also a secretary of overall PTA in High school for 10 years. She was the main contact to distribute food for low income families. She helped teenagers/young adults to finish their high school by assisting them financially. Most of these kids are now professionals and have a good way of living. All of them looked up to her, honored her and respected her. She was also a member of a Christian Church, Touch of Glory & Christ the King International Mission Church. Family and friends are invited to her viewing on Friday evening September 23rd from 7:00PM to 9:00PM. and again Saturday morning from 9:00AM to 10:00AM at McCafferty Funeral & Cremation Inc. 6711 Frankford Ave. (between Unruh & Knorr Sts).There will be a Prayer Service on Saturday morning at 10:00AM. Burial to follow in Locustwood Memorial Park. Cherry Hill NJ.
